How do I log in to TaxCare?

Accepted Answer

Enter your mobile number and we send a 6-digit one-time password on WhatsApp or SMS — there is no password to remember. Your device then stays signed in for up to a year without another OTP. You can see and sign out any device from Profile → Security.

Question 2

I didn't receive my OTP. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

Wait for the 30-second timer, then tap "Resend OTP". If it still doesn't arrive, switch between WhatsApp and SMS using the link below the code boxes. SMS codes come from the sender TAXOTP. A code works once and expires after 10 minutes.

Can I change my registered mobile number?

Not in the app yet — your account is tied to the mobile number you sign in with. Contact us and we'll help.

Question 4

Do I need to install an app?

Accepted Answer

No. TaxCare works in your browser on Android, iPhone, tablet and desktop, and is also available as the TaxCare app for Android and iOS. Your account is the same everywhere.

Why do I need to verify my PAN?

Accepted Answer

Verifying your PAN links TaxCare to your Income Tax portal account. That is how we fetch your Form 26AS or Form 168, AIS and TIS, prepare your return from them, and file it for you.

Question 6

My PAN says "not linked with Aadhaar". What now?

Accepted Answer

Verification sends an OTP to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, so your PAN and Aadhaar must be linked first. Link them on the Income Tax e-filing portal, then come back and verify again on TaxCare.

Question 7

Is my Aadhaar OTP shared with anyone?

Accepted Answer

No. The OTP is used once, on the Income Tax portal, to confirm it's you and set your portal password — it is never stored. We keep that portal password encrypted and use it only to fetch your documents and file your returns.

What if I register a PAN that another account already holds?

Accepted Answer

A PAN belongs to one account at a time, and passing the Aadhaar OTP on the Income Tax portal is the proof that it is yours. The earlier holder is alerted and the PAN moves to you. Nothing is lost — it can be restored by registering again.

Question 9

Which ITR forms does TaxCare file?

Accepted Answer

ITR-1, ITR-2, ITR-3 and ITR-4 for individuals and HUFs — TaxCare picks the right one from your income. Returns outside these — companies, firms, LLPs, audit cases, or income we don't file ourselves such as crypto, sale of property, foreign income or partnership income — are handled by a Tax Expert.

Can TaxCare handle capital gains and F&O income?

Yes. Gains on shares and mutual funds are filed with ITR-2, and intraday or F&O trading as business income with ITR-3. Pick your broker and upload its tax statement on Capital Gains to see it sorted. Gains from selling property or crypto go to a Tax Expert.

Where do my TDS details come from — Form 26AS or Form 168?

Both are the same annual tax statement under different laws. Tax years 2025-26 and earlier are in Form 26AS; from tax year 2026-27 (Income-tax Act, 2025) it is Form 168. AIS and TIS list your reported transactions for every year. TaxCare fetches all of them from the Income Tax portal.

Can I file a late, corrected or updated return?

Yes. TaxCare files original returns, belated returns after the due date, revised returns that replace a filed one, and updated returns (ITR-U) where the law allows. A late return carries the interest and fee the Income Tax Act prescribes, which TaxCare works out for you. The new regime is the only option on a belated return.

How long does e-verification take?

E-verification with an Aadhaar OTP is instant, and TaxCare offers it right after you file. Do it within 30 days of filing — until then the return is not treated as filed.

Can I download my filed return, and track my refund?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Download ITR lists every return filed for your PAN with the ITR and its acknowledgement, and Refund Status follows your refund through the Department's stages. Timing depends on the Income Tax Department.

What can a Tax Expert do for me?

They are the Tax Experts on TaxCare's own panel. We check each member's ICAI membership before assigning anything, and you always see who has your matter. We assign the expert for you, by speciality and availability.

How do I know what happens to my documents and my return?

Documents are stored privately and every time one is opened, you can see it. Everything — messages and each change of status — is on one order thread with a timeline, in real time. Nothing is filed or sent for you until you approve it.

How quickly will my matter be handled?

We aim to assign an expert within 4 working hours of payment, get a first response within 1 working day, and deliver within 3 working days of your documents being complete (2 for a notice reply, and never past the notice's own due date). Delays are visible on your order.

What if the Tax Expert needs more work than we agreed?

They may raise an additional fee with a reason and an amount. You choose to accept it and pay, or decline — nothing is ever charged silently.

Filing yourself is free if your income is up to ₹1 lakh. Above that a small fee starts at ₹49 and rises by ₹50 for every ₹2.5 lakh of income, capped at ₹1,499, all-inclusive. What payment methods are accepted?

UPI, debit and credit cards, net banking and the other methods on our payment partner's secure checkout. TaxCare never sees or stores your card details, and every paid payment has an invoice on the Payments page.

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

For a Tax Expert order: in full if you cancel before an expert is assigned; less the engagement fee, if any, after that until you approve the work; none once you have approved it. If money leaves your bank but the payment shows as failed, it is settled or refunded automatically, usually within 5–7 working days. Read our Refund & Cancellation Policy or contact us.

How do the referral and offers work?

Share your referral link: a friend who joins gets 30% off their first paid service straight away, and you get 30% off your next one once they pay. It is a discount, not cash, and there is no limit on friends. One discount applies per payment — the better of a coupon or a referral reward.

How many family members can I add?

Accepted Answer

There is no fixed limit. Once your own PAN is verified, add each person whose return you manage — spouse, parents or children — from Profile → Family. Each is confirmed with the OTP the Income Tax portal sends to their Aadhaar-linked mobile.

Can a family member see my account?

Accepted Answer

No. A family member is a PAN you file for from your own account — they don't get a login to it. If they later sign up on TaxCare with their own mobile number and verify that PAN, it moves to their account and we let you know.

Can I remove a family member later?

Yes, anytime from Profile → Family. Their tax data stays safe: add the same PAN again and everything comes back as it was.

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest and stored in India, and significant actions on your account are logged. We use your data only for the purposes you agree to, and you can review or withdraw consent anytime. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Danger Zone. Filed tax records are kept for as long as the law requires (6 years from filing); everything else is erased or anonymised. You can download a copy of your data first from Privacy & Data.
